Speaker this Sunday 22 October

The speaker this Sunday will be our Pastor Emeritus, Rev Leigh Neighbour. To find out how to become a member, go to the Resources page.

Speaker for Sunday 29 October

Pastor David will be telling the story of Martin Luther and showing pictures of where the dramatic events of the Reformation took place exactly 500 years ago.

Recordings of the Message are uploaded live to YouTube each Sunday night. The only person being recorded is the speaker (with permission). Videos are on the MCC Brisbane YouTube channel or by clicking the link on the “Video Messages” page. Click here.

Communion at MCC Brisbane is open to everyone. You do not have to be a member of this or any church. We use gluten free bread and non-alcoholic grape juice as the symbols of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection.

After the service please join us for supper and fellowship in the courtyard. Supper at MCC provides opportunity for friendship and mutual support in time of need.

Question Box

Write your questions (anonymous if you prefer) and place them in the box on the table at church. The pastor will answer the questions during the service. Questions can be on Biblical themes or teachings, relationship issues or other matters relevant to MCC Brisbane. A small prize will be given for the best question.

MCC Melbourne Training Seminar

Walking Between Worlds training seminar with Anthony Venn-Brown, Saturday 28 October, Melbourne Vic. Explore the complexities of LGBTIQ sexualities and faith, and develop strategies to resolve issues around belief systems, sexual identity and the Bible. See the flyer on the table near the entrance. Sponsored by MCC Melbourne. For more information go to: www.mccmelbourne.com.au

Marriage Equality Postal Survey

MCC Brisbane has long advocated for marriage equality – indeed for the rights of all humans to live their lives freely under God. MCC Brisbane supports a YES vote in the upcoming postal survey on marriage.

MCC Brisbane will provide support for anyone who needs it over the next few months. If you, or someone you know, needs help, then contact one of the following organisations:

Annual General Meeting

Our AGM will take place on Sunday 26 November at 5pm at the church. Reports for the last 12 months will be presented, including a financial statement. The budget for 2018 will be presented for approval and two Board members will be elected. Everyone is invited and members are urged to be present. Official notices with nomination forms will be emailed to members soon. Pizza will be served after the AGM at approximately 6:15pm and the normal church service will follow at 7pm.

Annual Christmas Appeal

This year we are collecting for Open Doors and Queensland Positive People (QPP). Open Doors have requested $10 gift cards from either Woolies or Coles. This enables a homeless or at risk youth to obtain food that night. They have also requested non-perishable food (tins and packet food) for the same reasons. Please bring your donations to church any Sunday. Give gift cards to any board member and place food items in the box near the entrance door. For information see Kevin, Service Project Coordinator for MCC Brisbane.

Pastoral Care

If you would like to speak with the pastor privately, please email pastor@mccbris.asn.au or phone 3891 1388 to make an appointment. The pastor is available on Sundays from 5pm at the church but can meet at other times as required.

New Trans Website

New Trans Website started by Rev Jo Inkpin, Anglican priest and trans woman who recently spoke at MCC Brisbane. Resources include: video links, theology, scripture, spirituality, support and Jo’s ongoing blog. Go to: <www.transspirit.org>
